A washerman's donkey destroyed a potter's pots. The washerman pays but the potter thinks he is just trying to humiliate him. He goes to court, pretending to have come Persia where supposedly they say Akbar's elephants are dirty; they should be white. He volunteers his neighbor as the best washerman. The washerman despairs and asks Birbal for advice. The washerman then asks for pot as big as elephant to wash in. The potter makes one, but the elephant cracks it. The potter then confesses that he lied.
