Feral dogs surround Nasruddin and his donkey. He tries to grab rocks, but the rocks are cobblestones: he cannot pull one loose. Nasruddin complains to God that this is a cursed place: the dogs run free and the rocks are frozen to the ground.
Notes: The version in Suresha has "after a snow" as if the rocks were literally frozen to the ground, but I think this may be a misunderstanding: I've seen at least one version of this story where the fool has never seen a cobblestone road before; that seems to be better motivated than a story about rocks being frozen to the ground.
