His wife makes halva, and Nasruddin eats almost all of it. In the middle of the night, he awakes. "I have a wonderful thought!" he says. "What is your wonderful thought?" she asks. "I'll tell you, but first go get the halva." He then eats it all up. This was his thought: how wonderful it would be to eat all the halva.
Notes: In Suresha's version, Nasruddin remarks: halvah is better in the belly than in the mind.
