T0398. Cloak and Turban of a Drunken Man

The cadi gets drunk one hot night, falls down in orchard by road, and cast soff his fine cloak and turban, lying there naked. Nasruddin and disciple comes by; Nasruddin takes cloak and turban. Cadi announces the theft of cloak and turban next day; wearing them, Nasruddin is arrested. "Do you claim this cloak and turban are yours?" Nasruddin admits they are not; he says he found them next to a drunken man. To protect him from robbers, Nasruddin took cloak and turban and would like to return them. As a result, the cadi cannot claim them; Nasruddin gets to keep them.
